cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

What is this class focused on?

Progressive body strengthening based on core loading, with stretching and balance exercises shaped to each woman’s needs.

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

What equipment or techniques are used?

A combined format: mat work plus specific equipment systems used in the one class.

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

Who is it suitable for?

Women who’ve had physiotherapy sessions at Physiotherapy for Women and want to keep improving with physio guidance. Some women continue if they become pregnant and have been doing this class for some time with no medical issues. Postnatal women can move here from Mum’s Core & More once they’ve reached the required level of core loading set by the class physio.

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

How is this class different from the others you offer?

Unlike many physio practices or Pilates studios that offer only mat or equipment, this class blends in every session for smarter progression.

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

How many participants are typically in the class?

About six people in a 45-minute session.

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

Are these sessions led by a physiotherapist or another instructor?

These are physiotherapy-led classes.

What makes this class unique among your postnatal offerings?

An individualised Starter Program of safe postnatal exercise that meets each new mum’s goals in a supportive setting. Babies can be by your side, or you may prefer to attend without your baby.

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

What areas of recovery does it focus on (e.g., core, pelvic floor, mobility)?

Graded core loading and pelvic floor work, plus upper/lower-limb and trunk strengthening and stretching using mat exercises with weights and resistance bands. It’s safe and progressive to match each woman’s needs.

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

Who is it designed for (e.g., weeks/months postpartum, delivery types)?

Designed for all new mums, generally beginning 8–16 weeks postnatal, after a comprehensive postnatal physiotherapy assessment.

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

Are babies welcome in this class or is it mothers only?

Non-crawling babies can lie on a blanket near mum. For safety reasons, crawling or moving babies must be in a stroller near mum.

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

How many participants are usually in the group?

About six people.

Are these classes run as a term, or can clients join casually?

You join after your postnatal assessment. Attendance number depends on your needs and how you progress through graded core loading and general strengthening. As levels are achieved, you may progress to the Postnatal (Mat & Equipment) program, move to your own gym program, or continue in this class until life routines change (e.g., return to work).

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

How is it different?

It’s a combined Mat & Equipment class with stronger but still progressive, loading of muscle systems, including core.

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

What equipment is used?

Pilates Reformer, Trapeze Table, Chair, Nohrd Cable Pulley System, weights, balance boards and mats, exercise balls, resistance bands and loops, stretching platforms.

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

What does a session aim to achieve?

Progressive stretching and strengthening to help mothers handle the physical demands of baby (and child) care and home routines, while supporting overall wellness.

cropped PhysiotherapyforWomen icon

How is the program tailored?

Each woman has her own exercise program drawn from her assessment and needs. The class physiotherapist progresses exercises as you reach specific loading levels or new goals arise.
